Jeanne Brown

Jeanne Brown has devoted her career to the athletic training profession, not only as an excellent healthcare provider, but as an educator, mentor and friend to athletic trainers scattered across Wisconsin and the United States.  Her dedication to athletic training has touched many lives both professionally and personally, and serves as a model for future generations of athletic trainers. Jeanne’s devotion to her career is only surpassed by her devotion to her family, for which she values beyond all else.

Jeanne graduated from UW-LaCrosse in 1978.  She then obtained a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training while working as a graduate assistant at Ohio University in 1981, becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer that same year.  Jeanne returned to Wisconsin to become the Head Athletic Trainer and an Instructor at UW-Eau Claire in 1981 at a time when this role was held by very few women. In 1986 Jeanne started work at Chippewa Valley Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, creating the High School Athletic Training Outreach Program and becoming the first Athletic Trainer-Physician Extender in Northwest Wisconsin.  During her 20 years with CVOSM, the Outreach Athletic Training Program flourished under her direction. She was instrumental to bringing ImPACT testing and concussion awareness to the Eau Claire area high schools.

From 2005-2011, Jeanne was an athletic trainer at UW-Eau Claire and an Instructor/Preceptor for the Athletic Training Education Program. Her special interest in concussion care led Jeanne to develop OakLeaf Concussion Clinic in 2010 where she is currently the Clinic Coordinator, Physician Extender, and an ImPACT Credentialed Consultant.
