Awards and Scholarships
The Wisconsin Athletic Trainers' Association (WATA) Awards Committee oversees the process of collecting nominations and selecting recipients for a variety of WATA awards and scholarships. Each year, we recognize the most deserving athletic trainers for their outstanding contributions and commitment to WATA, their patients, and the athletic training profession in Wisconsin. Awards
The WATA Hall of Fame, Distinguished Service Award, Outstanding Educator Award, Honorary Membership and other special designated awards are awarded under the guidance of the Awards Committee. WATA seeks to recognize those individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to the athletic training profession. Members are encouraged to review the criteria of each award and, when appropriate, nominate deserving colleagues for recognition.
The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers' Association for his/her exceptional contribution to the education of Athletic Trainers and/or Athletic Training Students in Wisconsin.
The Distinguished Service Award recognizes a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers' Association for his/her service to WATA and/or outstanding contribution to the profession of athletic training at the local, state, regional and/or national level.
The Honorary Membership Award recognizes an individual who is not an Athletic Trainer, but has made significant contributions to the improvement and progression of Athletic Training in Wisconsin and/or the WATA.
Induction into the WATA Hall of Fame is the highest honor a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers' Association can receive. We encourage all of our web visitors to browse the WATA Hall of Fame information and to review the list of previous winners in all of our award categories. Our organization stands on the shoulders of those who have come before us to advance the profession of athletic training; we are pleased to honor their hard work.
Scholarships
WATA is pleased to offer 3 scholarships for students enrolled in an athletic training program to provide support for future athletic trainers. We grant these scholarships to those students who exude academic excellence, professionalism, and high ethical standards when pursuing their athletic training education. These scholarships include:
- The Founding Fathers Leadership Scholarship
- Mueller Professional Scholarships
- The Jeff Oliphant Memorial Post Professional Scholarship
