Robert E. Weingart

1919 – 1989

Robert Weingart is a native of West Allis, Wisconsin, and was an all sports athlete at West Allis Central High School. Bob went on to play football at Marquette University and graduated in 1943 with a degree in Physical Education and Social Science. He began his teaching and coaching career as Slinger High School. In 1946, Bob became the Head Athletic Trainer at Marquette University where he remained for 38 years, retiring in 1984.

In Mr. Weingart’s long and distinguished career, he advanced the athletic training profession on the state and national level by serving as secretary/treasurer of District 4 and chairman of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Directors. Bob also served as trainer for the College Football All-Stars from 1950-52, the track and field athletic trainer in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, and Marquette Warrior NCAA championship basketball team in 1977.

Bob Weingart received the 1975 Distinguished Service to Wisconsin High School Athletes Award, is a member of the Marquette Athletic Hall of Fame, and in 1980 was inducted to the NATA Helms Foundation Hall of Fame. Bob is best remembered by the thousands of athletes he has counseled and treated as a pioneer in modern athletic training.
