William Berry

1932 – RETIRED

William “Bill” Berry graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from the University of Northern Iowa. After working as a high school teacher in Fort Dodge and Holstein, Iowa for eight years, he returned to graduate school and earned his Master of Science from Indiana University and his National Athletic Trainers Association Certification in 1967.

Bill began his career at University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in 1967 and remained there until his retirement in 1990. During his tenure at UW-Whitewater, Bill was very active in the development and advancement of the Department of Sports Medicine. Known by all as knowledgeable, resourceful, and conscientious, Bill enjoyed an excellent relationship with everyone he worked with.

Bill will always be remembered for his dedication and contributions to the field of athletic training. He was a founding father of the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association and has been instrumental in the development of the countless student athletic trainers who were fortunate enough to work with him.
